Overview Of Role: 

We're a fully remote web development agency looking to add a Lead Front-end Engineer to the team. This full-time position would help us develop and maintain our developing standards and coding practices and also be willing to roll up their sleeves and help us create engaging websites, web apps and new features for clients. This person should have a keen eye for engaging animations and clean code and willingness to teach.

Responsibilities:
  1. Write it down - Document, train and align team on front end standards for all of our projects moving forward.
  2. Teach/train - Using their documentation, can bring new devs and/or contractors up to speed quickly on our standards and practices and continues to help progress the teams skills and capabilities.
  3. Execute - Be able to take visual designs in sketch and written specifications and turn those into semantic html/css/js that is reusable, scalable, performant, accessible and works on all major browsers.
  4. Make it move - we love to create experiences on our pages. We leverage CSS and JavaScript animation to make our pages come alive
  5. Components - Be able to create reusable Gutenberg blocks that allow clients and product team to enter content and customize the components.
  6. Reuse - Develop a reusable component/block library for WordPress that is reusable across client projects

Requirements:
  • 6+ years of experience as a front-end developer.
  • Strong understanding of HTML and CSS, including cross-browser compatibility and performance.
  • Ability to write modern and performant JavaScript using latest technologies.
  • We expect you to know your way around git and Github
  • Experience with front-end building tools (such as Webpack).
  • Experience working remotely.
  • Experience in mentoring and leading a team.
  • Comfortable interpreting designs and/or specifications and thinking through the best approach to adapting it to code.
  • A solid understanding of good UX and UI practices for websites.
  • Familiarity with Sketch and Adobe XD.
  • Experience with WordPress and Gutenberg with building out custom blocks.
  • Experience creating component systems.
  • Ability to communicate with client stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, about the impact of decisions.
  • Estimating work for a project and taking specs and turning into clearly defined, executable tasks.

Nice to haves:
  • Experience with React
  • Experience with Node.js
  • Experience with Shopify
  • Understanding of WCAG accessibility compliance. Ability to implement accessibility standards as well as audit existing websites.
