About Simple Poll
  • Simple Poll is one of [the most popular apps on Slack](https://slackrank.wilhelmklopp.com) and lets users create simple polls and surveys that are fully native in Slack
  • Wilhelm created Simple Poll in early 2016 to improve his own workflow when working in Slack. Started as a side project and then grew up to be a proper company!
  • Over the course of a year, Simple Poll has millions of users (you will help us grow that number!)

We are a fairly early stage company! Currently there are three of us working on Simple Poll:
  • Tom (who represents half of our engineering team and spends his days architecting, building and iterating on the product)
  • Charles (who is in charge of Support, Sales, Business Development, and Compliance)
  • Wilhelm (me! I mostly spend my time writing code and doing all the many other things that need to get done)
We're a profitable, bootstrapped company (no external investment) and very much plan to stay that way!


We've never really had a very intentional approach to growth or marketing with Simple Poll, relying on word of mouth and a small number of distribution channels. As a result there's quite a lot of low hanging fruit with many things left to optimise and many opportunities to have a lot of impact!
We also recently launched a new product (Simple Surveys) within the Simple Poll app. This new product delivers drastically more value to our customers and we believe it has the potential to more than 10x our revenue. An intentional approach to marketing & growth is a key missing ingredient here, which is why we're hiring an experienced head of growth to lead this area of the business.

What you'll work on
  • The primary goal is to significantly increase our MRR and growth rate
    • You'll have a lot of autonomy in deciding what to prioritise to further this goal
  • Develop a top level growth + marketing strategy and put it into practice
    • Increase awareness of our [new Simple Surveys product](https://blog.simplepoll.rocks/introducing-simple-surveys/)
    •  Better onboard, retain, and reactivate users
    • Strengthen the dialogue with customers
Other areas of ownership

  • Plan go to market for any new features or products (positioning, messaging, etc.) and build hype
  • Measure and create growth and retention dashboards
  • Investigate funnels and work out how to optimise them
  • Create tutorials, guides and other content to help slack admins empower their users to get the most out of Simple Poll
  • Pitch feature ideas that you strongly believe will accelerate growth
  • Own all landing pages (ie. simplepoll.rocks and the slack app directory page)
  • In addition to owning marketing and growth, become a general steward of Simple Poll, contributing to other parts such as product and sales

Minimum qualifications

  • You are looking to lead growth at a small company, propel it forward with your ideas, and drastically accelerate growth
  • You have at least 2 years experience working in a growth role at an early stage SaaS company
  • You understand the power of brand, positioning, and messaging
  • Experience working across the whole funnel (acquisition, activation, retention)
  • Experience with designing onboarding flows, drip email campaigns, and copywriting
  • The courage to make bold, high-impact changes drawing on your experience of what works and what doesn't
  • You instantly spot growth and optimisation opportunities
  • A strong sense of ownership. You’ll be joining a small team and fully owning growth,  marketing (and potentially more!) end-to-end
  • Ability to prioritise. It seems like there’s always too much to do, so figuring out what’s most important and doing it first is key
  • An attitude of continual learning, development and openness to feedback
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred qualifications
  • 3-5 years experience working in a growth role at an early stage SaaS company
  • You can independently find answers to analytics questions and write SQL
  • Experience with content marketing
  • Experience with paid advertising

Role structure
  • This is a fully remote, full time (40 hours per week) position. You can choose your own hours as long as you have at least 4 hours of overlap with London (from 8am - 6pm)
  • Sustainable and healthy working matters to us. We care about building delightful products for our customers, not hitting arbitrary daily hour counts.
  • We'd start this role on a three month contract with the firm goal of making it fully permanent after the first three months
  • Base salary plus a monthly bonus based on achieving growth goals
